Hyson Systems for Green Energy |
(1) Deep Underground cones for insulated thermophylic anaerobic digestion Uses - Wastewater Treatment Plants - Acid Mine Drainage
- Extend capacity of existing wastewater treatment works
- Extend system to treat AMD
- Doesn't consume electricity
- Converts biomass to methane
- The methane can be used to heat the digester for more efficient thermophylic digestion process
- The methane can be used to drive a gas-powered generator
- The electricity generated can be used to power the existing WWT plant
- No sticky sludge that is difficult to handle. The final solids dry to a fine powder
- No evil smells
- Low tech and easy to run.
- Quick and easy to construct - use labour intensive construction
Existing digester systems have been in use for 15 years at:
 Wolmeransstad
- Stilfontein
- Christiana
No expensive maintenance has been needed
(2) Hydro electricity generation with replenishment of reservoir
A 100m head is used to generate 1MW of electricity using conventional turbines
- 10% of the generated electricity is used to replenish the supply of water in the upper reservoir
- This electricity is used to introduce liquid carbon dioxide at high pressure to "pump" the water back to the higher level utilising its kinetic energy
- After a "kick start" the system operates in a continuous self sustaining cycle
